Can anyone help me on setting up my remote for one touch channel changes? I have set up a panel on my Pronto that has several channel icons (CNN, ESPN, etc...) and want to use them as one touch access buttons emulating commands of my Tivo. All the single digit channels work (like FOX is ch. 5 so I just taught it '5' then 'enter') but no multi channels work unless you hold the channel icon down for a while, then it is slow (and a real pain)! For example CNN I have to program in '5' then '6' then 'enter' but when i use it, only the 5 portion sends if I don't hold the button down for a while.

Any help is greatly appreciated, I am sure this is some basic concept and I am making it way too hard.

When you program the actions behind you button, set it up as

Alias to button with 5
Small delay
Alias to button with 6
Small Delay
Alias to button with Enter

Before you can make the Channel Macro, you must have the numbers (0-9) learned into the remote. Then make a separate button for the Channel Icon. Double click on this new button which will take you to the Button Properties Menu and click on the “Action” tab. This is where you will find the Alias button. Now follow Peter’s instructions. You can also goto the FAQ for more help: B7-03 How can I enter multiple digits on a single button, say for a favorite channel icon?

Note: You need to be in ProntoEdit to do this.

Sounds like you are doing all your programming on the remote, not through the setup software. You should try using the software.

In either case, setting up your "one-touch" channel buttons on the 'Macros' side of the remote makes things MUCH easier.

A further note - some devices (sony for example) need the code sent twice. The second code actually triggers the command and is called the 'verification' code. When learning codes, try experimenting with length of button presses, or double-up the codes in the macro. Also, some devices require a short delay (0.1 seconds) between different commands, and a slightly longer delay between duplicate commands (ie: Channel 22).

"Alias" is when you have one button execute the command of another--usually when you have one that looks good, but you would like it to actually work.

Double click on the "pretty button". You'll get a "button properties" menu' with an "Alias" window. Click on Alias, and you'll get a tree with all the devices, all panesls, and all buttons. Click the one that works, select "apply", and "OK". you will see that command now in the alias window.

Do several in a row, as Peter indicated above, and you have a "macro", which will call your channel.

One last thing: if only part of the macro executes, then stops--put in a slightly longer delay after the last command that executed.
