With the Pronto connected to the computer and the emulator running. How do get the functions learned into the emulator stored in Pronto Edit ver2 so that I can use it in the buttons I'm designing?

Download your CCF to Pronto. Learn your codes. Then upload CCF back into ProntoEdit.
Do NOT learn codes from ProntoEdit.

The emulator is good to see what your design will look like on the Pronto, and nothing else. Do not rely on it to learn codes, and do not rely on it to see if they work on your devices. For those functions, despite what the manual says, it's unreliable .

Do NOT learn codes from ProntoEdit. The emulator learns the function, but the pronto doesn't. I have the emulator and the pronto in Learn mode. Is that correct?

Does the software for the Pronto Pro work better?

It is not a SW problem, there is a timing problem between the PC and remote, it depends on what your PC is doing and many other factors. Also delays seem to get "eaten" since the SW cannot account for how long it will take for the Pronto to send the command.

The emulator learns the function, but the pronto doesn't. I have the emulator and the pronto in Learn mode. Is that correct? No, not exactly. The emulator is supposed to function as if it were the Pronto, learning codes and sending them back out the Pronto so you can check if they work. After that, you download the CCF to the Pronto, and that's when the Pronto actually has control of the CCF. That's the theory. As I said, many find that what appears to work in the emulator, does not work properly in the Pronto for the reasons stated just above. It will, however, show you how the CCF will look, and how it will navigate between devices and panels.

Joel, it is the other way around. It could work on the Pronto but not in the emulator.

That's what I said, Anthony. It "appears to work" in the emulator, but does not in the Pronto.
In other words, even though it works in the Pronto, you couldn't tell that from the emulator, and just because it appears to work in the emulator, does not mean it will in the Pronto.
Basic idea: the Pronto is the final arbiter, not the emulator.
Any truth to the rumor that Philips is working on an emasculator?
