i have purchased a rc5000i and want to connect it to my pc. i have downloaded the latest software from this site and tried to connect. when doing so i get the following message:

rc5000 not connected or not responding

when i click the details section it says:

com1 opened but no response from rc5000

there is no palm software on the laptop and nothing using com1 (i think!). there is no modem in the laptop just a pcmcia network card and i am using windows me.

i have tried unplugging the serial cable from both the pc and rc5000i and checking it is connected properly but this still doesnt work.

can anyone help.

May sound daft but I had EXACTLY the same problem 2 days ago with my " out-of-the-box " RC5000i.

Where the serial port plugs into the hand held remote, wiggle it and push it in & out several times..Turns out my connection was a bit dodgy..

I went through 2 days of software hell, took the PC apart, re-installed stuff, etc etc..

For some daft reason the partial connection allowed the software to " understand " the remote was connected but not enough to transmit data to and from it.

Let me know if it works.

Best of luck

Ged
