A tab is just a button with a jump to a different panel.
So lets say you make a panel named news (with news channels) and one named kids (Channels for your kids). On your News panel you need a button named Kids with a jump to the kids panel.
If you have a more precise question I can get into more details.

I understand how to make jump buttons like you mention above. But how do I make a set of tabs on the bottom of the screen that list each and every panel for that device. I guess my first problem would be finding these tabs in a gallery file, but then how do I set them up?

Anthony, what i want to do is this.
I have about 9 panels of different tv station logos. I want to categorize them in groups. ie, movies, local, funnies, edu, news, etc.
I want to have a display like ive seen in ccf's that ive downloaded where on one screen you have direct input buttons and across the top or side or bottom you have tabs with the other grouping titles that you can push and go right to that panel instead of using the scroll buttons at the top and bottom of the pronto screen

The tabs are nothing more than a series of buttons containing bitmaps. Each button has a different Jump Target. Browse the files for DVD players or CD players. I seem to recall that there were some files there with tabbed panels.
In there are several galleries which contain tab bitmaps/buttons.
If you are using the Marantz rc5000, take a look at the default CCF which installs with the software. For sure, it contains tabbed panels.
That should get you started. Keep in mind that creating a tabbed device/macro group can be a tedious job. Once you build up a set of tabs which you use frequently, you will probably want to modify your gallery to contain these frequently used tab groups. See the FAQ on this site for more information on modifying your gallery.
Download 'Marks_Gallery.zip' from this site. It contains panels ('Frame-2' and 'Frame-3') which contain 2 and 3 tabs. After downloading and unzipping gallery.ccf to c:\gallery.ccf, open the file and browse.
NOTE: Don't unzip this file into your ProntoEdit/RC5000Setup directory. If you do, you will lose whatever gallery.ccf that is installed there.

I am using frames and tabs in my current pronto set up, I'd be happy to email you my .ccf for your viewing. Perhaps it will give you some insight to were to head. One thing on the frame/tab layout, it takes time and patience to change all the tabs to active/inactive status and alignment. If your like me, it is extrememly fun, but some people just don't have the patience. email me at [email protected] if you would like to see it.
