I want a pronto for my all my electronics. The problem I have is that my coffee table is int the way of my tivo. When I change channels I have to raise my arm up to do so. If I get a pronto does anyone know how I can get around this, ex remote extenter or something. Any links would help as well.

Thanks

If you absolutely can't move the equipment/table you COULD install an IR kit and put the eye on top of the tv or something.

I should think that the Pronto is probably a strong enough IR Emitter to "get around" your coffee table.

I can point my TSU2000 180 degrees AWAY from my equipment and it will still work - bouncing off of the walls, I suppose.

If you're totally new, &/or haven't bought your Pronto yet, I suggest you click on the links in the box below.

If the mirror is too much, you can always talk your wife into a glass-topped coffee table. It worked for me.

It is posts like these that let me know just how big of a techno-junkie geek I really am.

As Emeril Lugase would say... "Baaaaaaaaaaaaam" another thought just came to mind.

What we are talking about here is conserving energy. Raising the mirror or the Pronto is an unnecessary waste of energy.

Here's a point to help us all conserve that precious energy.

For all you beer drinkers out there, switch to Coors Light. Pronto in right hand and beer can in left. As you raise the can to drink with your left arm, point the pronto at that 'Silver Bullet' can and click away. Tivo should work just fine.

Easy:

1. Buy a new house
2. Make sure it has a larger living room.
3. Move the TIVO to one end of the living room.
4. Sit at the OTHER END of the living room.

OR

Move a bar stool into the living room, and sit on it when you are operating your Pronto.

How about hiring a butler to pour your coors light, fluff your bar stool, polish your mirror, lift your pronto and of course press those stiff buttons on the touchscreen? Wait a minute I must apologize I just halucinated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't worry, unless the coffee table is so close to the TIVO that it is actually covering up the IR sensor then the Pronto will work. It is quite amazing what angles and distances it will work from (including facing backwards)

I had the same problem (coffee table in the way of my DSS receiver and I had to raise my arm and aim the RC5000 at the DSS receiver to change channels). I did what Nick suggested and installed an IR kit and put the eye in the top shelf of my stereo cabinet. Solved the problem.

All this work for one little inconvenience.

Have you tried aiming at the ceiling and see if the reflection will work?

It works for me on an old Zenith cable box while lying in bed watching TV. The actual cable box is 2 inches off the floor and blocked by the solid end of a sleigh bed. Even with the ceiling fan running, the reflected signal gets to the cable box.
