Ok I've seen threads about rebooting before, but not with the RC5000i.

Although it is not recommended to learn through the software, I do on a regular basis without a hitch, until yesterday.

I was in the process of learning codes from a Scientific Atlantic Explorer 3100 cablebox remote, and everytime I tried learning the Setup key from the original remote, the RC5000i rebooted. No other keys on the original remote caused this, and it had me puzzled.
So I tried learning the code to the RC5000i itself, using the learn function on the RC5000i.
Needless to say, I got the big "FAIL" everytime I tried to learn the code. I tried different learning distances, and it still failed.

Anyone see this before?

JJP

Can you say "reboot" key?

John...

1] It's a long holiday weekend with no mail or banking tomarrow so:

a] People who know you have overchaged me cannot get to the bank to get money to afford to reply to you

b] Sunday is always slow until the left coasters start to chime in and we EST-zoners are normally already catching zzzzzz'z

1] It's unusually slow here today

I should also add that there is a section in the FAQ (you did look there first, right... not like me who sometimes misses the forest 'cause the trees get in my way) relative to rebooting:

A4-12 My remote is rebooting all the time... help!

that has a reference to an invalid or corrupt ccf possibly causing this.

Certain codes have been known to cause the remote to fail before (I believe Panasonic VCR Eject was a biggie). I'd look for other files with that code already in there.

John: since this thread was started from the "master of pointless threads" we did not know how to deal with it :-)

But I agree with Daniel, the best thing to do is try to find the code. I don't know if this will work, but if you have a cheap universal remote or learning remote, try using it to teach the Pronto.

John,

Daniel has given you good advice. However, if you have to learn the code, you might try getting another remote control from the cable company. I once had one button on a Mitsubishi remote lock up a remote, but when I learned the same command from another physical remote, it worked fine.
Best Regards,
Eric

They _WERE_ all Joel's friends. It appears by his conspicuous absence that he has abandoned them and left them to suffer from foul play....

I think you are right. After the:

you posted above. I found two more over two hours:

This could become a new best selling game:
