I'm a little fuzzy as to what all the "quirks" of the Pro by itself and with the RF extender are. But, I just played around with a Pro configuring it with RF, and I got EVERYTHING working! By the way, the unit has the most recent firmware (1.3), and the software was also the most current (3.4).

What I found is this: The Pro will not transmit RF from the Home section because there is no place in the properties to tell it what extender ID to use. It only provides the choice of what RF Channel to use. The choice to pick an extender ID is only provided in the individual Device and Macro properties.

Some have suggested putting a welcome type screen as a Home page, then jumping to a "real" Home screen in the Device or Macro section to get around the problem of RF not working from from the Home panel(s). This works fine, but it is not necessary. From the Home panel(s) buttons, you can alias to a device's buttons, or hard buttons, or the devices action list. As long as the devices RF properties are set to the appropriate extender ID, it works!

I aliased the volume + and - hard buttons to the receiver's "learned" volume hard buttons (Example (K) Receiver - Vol+ ). I also aliased the "DVD" button on the home panel to the DVD device's action list (Ex. (A) DVD ) -which is set to switch the Receiver's input to DVD - (Ex. (B) Receiver - Main - DVD ). The same works when aliasing to a regular panel button (Ex. (B) Receiver - Main - Power On ). All three kinds of alias' worked great!

I think it would be nice to have one place (maybe FAQ) for all the Pro's quirks and their fixes, if any. I know before I buy one, I want to fully understand what I'm up against. As I sit, I still do not know specifically what the other known issues are. The varied posts get buried over time, and any one can be difficult to find....let alone several.

Hope this posts helps make clear the RF issue.

Thanks for the "guide"
Everything "seems" to be working.
The one issue still is pushing buttons.
Before converting to RF everything worked fine.
Now, when you push a button, sometimes it takes
two pushes for it to work.
Anyone have a workaround ??

Mikeyb....

I am a little confused by your numbers. The v3.4.0 update dated 10/22/01 included SYS level v1.1 and APP level v1.3. Are you saying you are also now at sys level 1.3 as well as app level 1.3????

Barry -

Try changing the RF channel. The default is channel 0.

To do this:
Open ProntoProEdit - In the System Properties, on the RF tab, select from channels 0,1,2,3. Then reload to the remote.
On the RF extender, use a small screwdriver and rotate the selecter wheel to the corresponding channel ID.
