Anyone else seen this? It's happened to me four times.

If the battery goes flat (ie the warning screen comes up) during a user operation - eg while holding down the volume down key - then when the Pronto is recharged it is in a loop, constantly transmitting something (the last user operation, I think - eg my volume kept going down to zero) and continues doing this until reboot.

Looks like a little software bug - it would be useful to know whether this happens on other people's ProntoPros.

Same here with my TSU6000 Sys V1.1 & App V1.1
Mine did the same thing I was channel surfing when the low battery came on. Then I was channel surfing without touching a button. The only way to stop it was to pull the battery pack.

The Pronto's never been particularly good with weak batteries. But, assuming it is otherwise still working correctly when the message appears (the B&W Pronto is usually not so lucky), it does seem like a software bug.

Since it is in the initial and latest sys/app levels and no one has reported this, at least in here that I am aware of, until now, I guess this hasn't been addressed by Philips yet.

Any of you folks with the problem call it into Philips support??? Any report on their response???

I was about to ask about this. This has happened both times my bat went dead. It always seems to happen when I am increasing the volume too. Had to jump out of bed and manually turn receiver down. Removeing the battery to stop it is a pain. I hope we get a fix.

jnd53..

Did they say what the sys/app level would be??? I am asking because the one on their web site is the same as the one here, sys 1.1 app 1.2 and the one in the Pros I have been selling is sys 1.2 app 1.2, so I am curious if the update on the web will be to bring the web file to there or actually higher than the current sys 1.2 app 1.2 levels.

jnd53 I guess the 3.4.0 released on 10/22, a day later, is the one that was being referred to. I see the APP 1.3 level, but the SYS still remains at 1.1 for some reason.

I have yet to figure out what the SYS 1.2 brings from July 17th that is in just about all the Pronto Pros we are delivery, to the equation. (Any ideas Daniel?)

Perhaps applying 3.4.0 to upgrade your APP to v1.3 would make a difference?

Try it Click On This RC link

or Click on this for a description

As to Philips support in the UK, as one of my customers wrote in another thread here when they were told by Philips UK that no Pro service parts would be available til January 2002 causing me to have to send a new dock over to Leicester by personal courier:

"Philips are as useful as a chocolate fire guard when it comes to service so stay secure. remember you get what you pay for, and in alpha's case a little bit extra!"

I have to disagree with one part of their comment... in this case, after many phone calls to UK and the extraneous measures I took the solve the customer's problem, they should have siad a LOT extra! ;-)

Let us know if the APP 1.3 makes a difference, please.
