It's been many months since I've needed to make a change to my TS1000 and I now have Win2k. I read about the problems learing IR through the computer (it worked at first and then all the sudden stopped) but there really is a need to do this.

I have all the channel icons downloaded so I can just press the icon (button) and it changes the channel accordingly. However, you need to send 2 or more IR codes (like a macro) to change each channel and this can't be programmed without the computer because the pronto only learns one code per button.

Is there any other way to do this other than using someone elses computer that has Win 98 installed?

Thank you in advance for any help. I hate microsoft and all the problems there poorly written software causes!!

You use aliases to do channels.

Have the code for each digit on its own button. Then do, say Channel 23,:

[Alias] to the 2 Button
[small delay]
[Alias] to the 3 button

Your problem doesn't have anything to do with Microsoft, it has to do with your lack of understanding of how to program macros on buttons. Start reading here:

I think he is referring to the problem with crashing on learning through ProntoEdit. It is debatable whether Philips or Microsoft is responsible for 'the poorly written software'. I suspect it is more Philips than Microsoft. The extra timing issues are hardly Microsoft's fault - the whole I/O architecture is different and more secure. Philips should really do it a totally different way - learn the complete code in the Pronto, and then transmit to the PC. The current method has it going to the PC as it is being learnt - that is bound to have problems. Regardless it shouldn't crash the program - that is probably Philips fault.

I know there is that issues with W2K, Peter, but he seems to be talking about not being able to learn more than one command per button to change channels. That sounds to me like he doesn't know how to program macros.

It also seems like that's what you thought, too, judging by your earlier response.

You guys answered the question. I didn't think of using aliases. When I set this up (over a year ago) I just entered multiple IR codes into each button. Even now that I know how to get around this, I still think the program should work properly. There may be a time when I would want to do this.

I guess Philips isn't going to re-write a program for a product they no longer make (the old TS1000 that is).

Thank you very much for enlightening me about the macros.
