Bill Howard's column on P. 75 of the new PC Mag [10-16-01] contains a little mini-review of the Pro, the first I've seen in a major mainstream tech publication. It pretty much echoes what we say here.
Conclusions are that it "offers dazzling simplicity if it's programmed correctly." Downsides are the cost, the use of serial instead of USB, and that "programming can be a never-ending task." (which I don't personally see as a downside.) Also despite saying the cost is a negative he says it's "relatively cheap in the realm of high-end home-theater automation."
There's also a really good explanation of flat panel technology starting at p. 87, including "active matrix" "passive matrix" and "TFT"--terms used here which I didn't understand. And after reading this--I
still don't understand, but at least I know why.
