I have the sony RM-AV2100 and I am not very happy with it. I have basically outgrown it. I never liked how little control I have over the labels, and the positions of the labels.

I like what I read about how much the pronto is customizable. I have a small home theater, but as always, plan to expand. So I guess what I need is opinions.

Also if anyone has the leather case advertised on here is it worth getting also?

What you describe you have like about what you have read is the very reason you should get it. As i have said here many times, you teill it how you want it set up. You don't have to adapt to the remote, as is the case with most of them. also, the ability to do one-button macro commands to accomplish many tasks is beautiful.

As for the case, it's worth it because of the protection it gives to the screen, the way it doesn't slide like the plactic case does, and the additional padding if its dropped. Personally, I prefer the look of the bare case, but the trade-off is worth it.

Check this thread, the best one on the subject:

One more question, how reliable is the remote? Will it stand up to years of use? I have done some reasearch, but I have not trolled through this forum enough, and I am being lazy and asking what I am sure I could find if I looked.

A tad more than the 2000 I had. One of my dogs ate it.

Bit annoyed at the time but I haven't looked back since.

I got mine 2 days ago (used off of e-bay), and I love it already. The information and files here made it very easy, and I'm already thinking about those macros and pictures and ...

My home theater is not that large either, but getting rid of those 6 remotes is worth every penny.

I'm running into the random re-boot issue, but I think that's fixable by a software update.

It'd be worthwhile for even just 4 remotes.

Shanon: what you mentioned is the main reason to get the remote. At the company I work for, we wanted to make Videoconferencing more user friendly, but wanted to find an affordable solution (that was back in 99). We have around 20 locations using the Pronto, only one LCD has broken (and that was replaced by Philips), and that is many people using the remote, without any training. One of them (Pronto) also got a full cup of hot coffee with no problems. Its weak point is the piece of glass, but there should not be any problems.
