My DVD player holds 300 discs, plus a slot for loading and playing a disc thats not in the carousel. If a disc is placed in that slot, the player automatically plays that disc. Otherwise it waits for you to enter a disc number. Is it possible to have a macro that will turn everything on and play a disc in the slot, or a disc thats entered by number, or am I going to have to have two seperate macros. One for a single disc and one for the discs in the carousel? Ive been pondering on this and dont know how to make it work, because Im trying to avoid two seperate macros.Im really running thin on memory, and I still have macros to create for my laser, vcr, sat ect. If I get you, the "slot" DVD is manual feed. You still have to put a DVD in the slot, then you click "play", right? I don't see you need a macro for that, because you still have to load the dvd. As far as the carousel, you need to enter a number which is going to change each time, so a macro really wouldn't work for that, either.

Macros are effective when you have a regular, repeated series of commands. When part of that will change regularly, a macro won't do it. [Unless someone knows a way to pause a macro to enter a number that I'm not aware of.]

I have the TS1000, and I guess I have to many icons and graphics because Ive already had to eliminate a few things so I can put in some macros, because I got the message that I was low on memory.
Joel: I had a macro for the single load slot.It worked pretty good actually.I hit "play DVD" and every thing would turn on sequentially with a few strategic delays and then Id have the door to the DVD open and pause 10 seconds so I could load the single DVD,and then as Im going back to my seat the door closes and the DVD starts playing. So I was happy with that, but I was wondering if I could use the same macro to somehow skip that part and have me enter a number when I wanted to watch something already loaded in the carousel. I was just trying to avoid having two seperate macros for watching DVD`s.The macro still works fine even though Id be entering different numbers for whatever disc I wanted to watch, because it still turns my amps on and sets them to the right inputs, turns the TV on and turns the dvd player on, so its worth it to have the macro do everything up until I have to enter a disc number.Im also trying to incorporates my CD player which has a disc in that has old 50`s drive in commercials and music. I restored some old drive in speakers and mounted them on poles on either side of my couch and wired them to the B speakers of my amp, so I want the CD player to cue up and play that As we are settling in, as that ends, the DVD will start playing on cue out of the main speakers.I think it is a unique setup, and its just gonna take some timing to get everything in sync, but I was trying to cut down on the number of macros I have to make if possible

Hwy, you're doing great, Mickey! I remember when you were asking the newbie questions not that long ago. Congrats.

Yes, I feel Ive come a long way! I dont need too much help anymore except for things Like the above, so the question still stands. Is it possible for a macro to go one way or another depending on the DVD I want to watch (either one loaded in the carousel, or one in the single load slot). Remember, if one is in the single load slot, the player goes to that slot and plays that one disc, so the commands would be a little different( no dvd door opening and closing, no numbers to enter and some of the delays would be gone) Am I stuck having two different macros, one for dvd in single play slot and one for in the carousel. If so, then Im also stuck with having two different ones for dvd/system shutdown because once again the commands would be different! Then I need macros for VCL, Laser, and Satellite. Is there an easier way to do all this? Am I making it more complicated than it needs to be? Its just that it seems each situation requires different commands and things to happen, and that makes for a lot of macros depending on what Im watching!! Any suggestions here would be most welcome, especially if you have a way around the DVD macro. My setup is probably a little more complicated than most so its making this more of a challenge

I don't think you can do that. This is not like your typical DOS batch file programming code, where you have [IF...THEN] phrases, etc. I'm not even aware you can pause them (for instance to enter numbers). It's just a series of commands that are excecuted from beginning to end, the same each time--unless I'm just way off base and the heavy-hitters on this site can tell me that (which is certainly possible).
