I am new here, but have a friend that comes here often because he has a proto remote a 2000 if I remember correctly. Anyhow he quickly pointed out to me that there is a design contest for the new TSU-6000 Pronto Pro, all you have to do is come up with the best design and you could win one. Well that is great I said, so here I am.

I thought, great this thing is in color too. Well here comes the problem, it isn't a regular 256 color palette which would have been the real way to go, its in a web-safe palette of 216 colors with 44 other colors consisting of extra blues, reds and so on as stated in the the Remote Central Article here:

[Link: remotecentral.com]

"The first popup shown when you click on a colored square displays 44 colors - but if you click on the "More" button you'll get a larger window with 216 colors. WYSIWYG previews are shown at the bottom of the screen. "

This is completely untrue. First of all most of the colors that come up in the first pop-up window are also in the second additional window, all but one.

Thats right, between the two of the pop-ups there are only 217 colors to choose from.

What I want to know is where are the other 39 colors, and what colors are they???

I have made a color palette of these 217 colors for Macromedia Fireworks if anyone is interested.

Better yet if anyone knows of an actual listing of the colors that the Pronto Pro TSU-6000 has to offer let me know. Maybe I am overlooking something.

Oh, and one more question! Does the Pronot Pro Emulator actually display the same exact colors that the Remote will???

1) The emulator cannot create a 100% accurate image (WRT color) since there is no way for your PC to make sure what color is showing (you can tweek the colors on your monitor to get a different shade)

2) the palette to pick colors is limitted in PE to 216, but the palette associated to an icon (bmp file) is 256.

You'll notice the review doesn't say 216 more colors, just a "window with 216 colors". So it's accurate. :-)

You can gain this information by studying the color palette of a bitmap saved in ProntoProEdit, or from a screen capture file made in the emulator.

There's actually a forum article where I listed the RGB values for each and every color. In total there's 255 (white is listed twice).

In terms of RGB values, yes. But it'll look somewhat different on the actual remote. ProntoProEdit will only display colors that the remote supports.
