Okay. I am still not getting this. I have read the faq and downloaded ir tool and some other stuff but I am still not getting this. Could somebody please tell me step by step how to do this example from a pdf file as I really want to know this. Okay on the pdf file for the yammy 3000 it says the following extended ir code for spectacle is:
7E F 4
Now how do I take this 7E F 4 and put it into pronto edit so it will work. I have been told to cut and paste , turn it into hex and all kinds of things but what I really need is just a step by step on doing it. then it will make sense. Sorry this has got me. I could just use the yammy ccf I downloaded but i want to learn the manual way for some other codes.
Also could somebody explain this chart to me:
in the I/R column on the right there is either a Y or an X listed. What does this mean?
Thanks again to all.

It is explained in this thread: [Link: remotecentral.com]Also, if you haven't already, download the Yamaha Extended IR Codes spreadsheet from here: [Link: remotecentral.com]Barry and Rob put together the spreadsheet and it does the hex to decimal conversion for you (on sheet 2).
