Hi, I have a RC5000i and a Lutron Spacer lighting panel. I'm trying to simulate holding the power button down for 2 seconds so the lights will fade out. I just want to press the button quickly and have it send the code for 2 seconds continuously. I've tried to repeat the code in the RC5000 setup software, but it just sends the "off" code and the lights go out quickly. Can anyone help??
Thanks

Thanks, I have a small problem though. I don't have the remote for the Spacer panel. I didn't buy it because I want to use my theater remote. Therefore, I can't "learn" the code, I downloaded the codes for power on/off and dimming from here, but there was no code for fade to off. In fact on the Spacer remote all you have to do is hold down the power button for 2 seconds.

I know there are ways to edit/manipulate the HEX Code . . . but I don't do windows.....er, uh, I mean HEX!

Someone who DOES will have to weigh in on this one.

Sorry, but don't give up. Someone who DOES will pick up on it soon.

The Forum has been a little quieter than normal since 'Last Tuesday', but has definitely picked up a bit in the last few days.

Patience & perseverance wins the day!

I forgot to mention that if I hold down my off button for 2 seconds it does work. So the code is there, I just can't figure out how to continuously send it like I'm holding the button down.

Somehow the Space knows if it receives that continuous signal to fade out over 10 seconds. And if it is just a quick burst of the same signal it turns them off quickly. So the problem is the duration of sending time rather than the code being sent.

At least I don't think it sends a different code when you hold the button down.

Try something similar to the FAQ.

Create a new button and in the Action list for this new button, alias several times to the original button. Varying the number of aliases (and possibly adding delays between each). Try anything!

Can't hurt.

Try Mike's idea witout delays. It depends on the IR code (if it will work or not). try it with a lot of aliases (2 sec. is a long time when compared to IR codes)

try
B1=0000 0068 0003 0000 0333 0111 005b 0110 005b 01c5
B2=0000 0068 0000 0006 005b 016a 00b6 005b 00b6 016c 0333 0110 005b 0110 005b 01c5
B3= B1 + 30*B2
you can try reducing the numvber of B2s if it works

You will have to forgive my ignorance. I tried to copy and past the code into the ir code. And all I could get was an error "Data does not define a valid IR code."

Unfortunatly I don't know hex code, I noticed that all my other hex codes were just groups of 4 numbers. There was no b1= or equations in them.

If I misunderstood your suggestion, I apologize. I need a clearer explanation.

- Also, what do you mean bu reducing the number of B2s ?

Shown above are two separate hex codes:

0000 0068 0003 0000 0333 0111 005b 0110 005b 01c5

&

0000 0068 0000 0006 005b 016a 00b6 005b 00b6 016c 0333 0110 005b 0110 005b 01c5

What he means is to create two buttons, one with the B1 code, the other with the B2 codes. Then, on a third button, add one alias to B1 and 30 aliases to B2. That'll emulate holding a button. Then, reduce how many aliases to B2 you have until just before it stops working.
