Does any one know where I can get a unit to control a 240Volt electric screen? I recently aquired a screen but its not controlable as it just has an earth, a common neutral and two mains inputs (one up one down). I don't want it to be the only part of my room thats not at my fingures via my trusty Pronto!!

Any suggestions guys?

Can it be rigged with some sort of X10 switch?

I did it myself last week.

LetsAutomate.com do an X10 switch for projectors, which directly connects to the screen using the wiring you describe (if you are not familiar with X10 its a method of controlling kit directly over the mains). The switch cost around &50/&60.00, then to control it from the Pronto you'll need an Infrared controller module (cant remember the number but something like IR545, and cost around &30) this has buttons on the top for direct control, and an IR receiver which will receive the commands from the Pronto and send it over the mains to the switch. The switch learns how long it needs to be pressed to open and close the screen so you dont need to hold the button down on the remote to operate the screen. There are CCFs for the Pronto for X10 control on RemoteCentral.com

As you now have an X10-compatible system you may want to put in an X10 room dimmer switch while you are about it, then you can dim the room lights by remote control too as the movie starts (about &30)

Look on the X10 forum in RemoteCentral for more info, but the above system was the only even remotely (pardon the pun) sensibly-priced option.
