I have seen some CCFs with a grey scale picture on the home screen.
How do you take a picture and transfer into something usable by pronto
I am using a TSU/2000.

Using an image editor like Photoshop, you convert the picture into a grayscale bitmap (no bigger than 256X240 pixels.

Then you create a new panel in a device and import a blank button. Double click on the button, pick the "icon" tab, and select your bmp image from where you've stored it. Choose "apply".

Finally so it will be visible, you set an action for a delay of .01 sec. Close the menu, highlight the panel, and under "Tools", pick "Send to back".

Joel... why are you using 256 X 240.... Don't you want 240 x 219, or am I incorect?

Also couldn't you just make a Frame to contain the picture.. As long as there is someting else active
on the page that should work I believe.

No, you're right, Dustin. i remembered the 240, but couldn't remember the other parameter, so I took a shot--Wrong!!

You are also right about the frame, but I've seen it done both ways--and done it both ways myself. I have really worked much more with panels than frames, which is why I went that way. But I'll have to learn more about frames so I can with that Pro, right?

Frames are great for Groups of buttons, like a jog dial, or like shuttle controls, where placement is very important, and key to the asthetic apeal of the remote itself. For instance A frame can move a group of 5 buttons at the same time. It's a big pain to move things button by button- especially when the buttons have to fit together "just-so".

And the frames are good for pictures, becasue you don't want to assign a command to a picture in most cases anyways. Using a frame might use less resources than a button for the same effect- but don't hold me to that one.

Thanks, Big D. Very helpful.

I'll really have to go through the FAQs carefully since I'm going to be more involved with trying to create this time, instead of just copying. Actually, since I,m creating a CCF for a remote I don't even have, I'm more concerned with how it looks than if it works, which makes it a little easier. If I win, then I can try to actually make it work.

so if I want to have the picture in the background with maybe two or three buttons over the top, I should use a frame?
Joel, don't spend too much time on the Pro CCF, or mine will look poor, Thanks for the help though guys

d.francis: yes, but remember that there is no invisible colour, so you will have to match the part of the icon that is not "button" to the background
...

That can be done very easily with Photoshop. But now of course, I can't tell you how until the contest is over...

What is the rest of the message? It might be telling you that the color depth is too great. It must not be more than 8-bit color.

What product did you use to convert it, and how did you convert it to greyscale? What size is the original and the final? It is easy to do a poor conversion.
