Hi,

I have a 1 Meg RC5000 and recently after uploading a CCF to my remote, it rebooted and displayed the screen calibration screen (as the emulator does). After calibrating the screen, i was presented with a screen on the RC5000 displaying

"Configuration file corrupted"

"Revert will restart Pronto with original configuration"

and a button labeled "Revert"

When I press this the RC5000/Marantz intro screen is displayed with a "Please Wait" message.

The remote is then left in a "locked state" and needs a reboot, using the button on the back. The remote then goes back to the "Configuration file corrupted" screen.

I can upload firmware and CCF to the remote while it is in this state, but exactly the same happens.

I have searched the forums and tried the following. Note, all of the possible solutions I've tried resulted in the same behaviour.

1. I have updated the following firmwares to it:
RC5000 1.01, 2 and 2.2 several times and uploaded the default cfg that comes with each.

2. I have tried removing the battery (philips rechargable) out over night (approx 18hrs).

3. Uploaded several different CCFs small and large using both RC5000 setup and hyperterminal as some people suggested in forum posts.

4. Ensured that the battery is fully charged.

This is copy of the boot sequence output to hyperterminal:

Heres a hyperterminal trace of what happens when I press the "revert" button on the "Configuration file corrupted" screen:

----------------------------------------------------

Is there anyone with technical knowledge of the RC5000 (Philips or Marantz support staff for example :) ) that could shed light onto this problem as this has left a considerably expensive remote rendered useless. I find it hard to believe that this can happen!

Any help is appreciated, but I think that I've tried just about everything now.

Cheers

Did you do all this

Connect your remote to your PC.
Open a terminal program (such as HyperTerminal, which is included with Windows).
Connect to the serial (COM) port your remote is hooked up to at 115200 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit and no flow control.
Hit the reset button on the back of your remote control. On the terminal program you should start to see numbers such as "00 02 04", etc.
Hit the [ESC] key on your keyboard. A prompt, CABERNET> should appear.
Type dl ccf followed by return. You should see a slowly growing string of C's.
Download your CCF file to the remote using the XModem protocol (Transfer -> Send File).
When the download has finished, type go followed by return.
Your remote should now work correctly

before you see the "C's" make sure you are ready to download cause you only have till they stop appearing to start that download or it times out.

Yeah, I've tried that several times (point 3 in my list). The remote accepts the CCF but after if reboots, the remote is left in the same "Corrupt Configuration" state.

Thanks for your response though.

In HyperTerminal, make sure you're downloading a properly formatted RC5000 file that matches up with your firmware revision. However, the HT solution is normally for constantly rebooting remotes, not ones that provide a [REVERT] button. A normal CCF download should work.
