OK guys - strap yourselves in for another "Suicidal newbie" post!
Let me stress up front that without these excellent boards and FAQ (which I've been pouring over for hours) the neighbours would've been talking me off the roof some time ago.
I also consider myself to be a decent self-learner but....well....
Detail:
Pronto RU940
Sys - v4.8 02/22/2001
App - v4.86 02/22/2001
RU940 - v1.0 11/16/2000
ProntoEdit - v1.05
The Pronto was bought new today; ProntoEdit was downloaded direct from Philips site today.
I have set up some small personal .ccfs using elements from some .ccfs I downloaded.
Com1 has Pronto connected to it
Com2 has mouse connected to it
(I've tried it both ways with re-boots as necessary)
Both ports are set up as necessary:
Bits per second: 115200
Data bits: 8
Parity: None
Stop bits: 1
Flow control: None
I need to click "download" many times before anything will happen. There seems no logic to the connect/can't connect situation. How can this be!?
Eventually I will get a confirmed successful download in ProntoEdit but then get the (Pronto) message:
"Invalid Configuration file version" and I am obliged to revert to the original configuration.
Thinking that some of the .ccfs I downloaded may've been built using ProntoEdit v2.0, I downloaded ProntoEdit v2.0 and the Prontoini fix (which was needed).
I based the above on my understanding of FAQB4-05.
I've accessed all the files I've downloaded/created and saved them as "old Prontoedit" files
Still - when I next eventually "talk" to my Pronto - I can not get past: "Invalid Configuration file version"
Can anybody shed some light please.
At this stage I don't care if I've made the dumbest c*ck-up ever...please just put me out of my misery.
