Just ordered my TSU2000 and it'll be here Monday.

In the meantime I'm a HUGE Photoshop junkie and devised this little Guide on converting images to the 4level BMP images for the Pronto, using Photoshop 6. Check the FAQ page for what dimensions are allowable.

Hope it helps!

First, I've created this Color Chart file to make life easier when converting.
[Link: msihardware.com]
Download it to your Photoshop directory

Now let's get started...
1. Open the image you want to convert.
2. Goto Image>Mode>Grayscale (This will start the process of filtering down from color to grayscale
3. Goto Image>Mode>Indexed Color (More filtering and we're ready to cut it down to 4 shades of gray)
4. Goto Image>Mode>Color Table.
4a. In the Color Table Dialog, press the Load Button.
4b. Find the file you downloaded above and load it.
5. The image you see is what it will look like on the Pronto. Resize to desire and save.

Good luck and enjoy!

Call me paranoid, but I'm not about to download something into my computer straight from who-knows-who & who-knows-where??!!

Sorry, no reflection on you personaly Namuna, just a sign of the times. You just registered today and you only have 3 posts so far. Not enough assurance for me.

Well, since we're going to throw accusations out...You'll have to pardon me for getting defensive.

First off, to register for this forum you have to have a REAL email address. Look at that, mine is readily seen and availabe in my Profile.

Next, the file extension on the link is .ACT which is a specific Color Chart file for Photoshop. If you knew anything about Virus' (which you obviously don't), you'd know that they're activated by double-clicking on them directly after downloading. I CHALLENGE you to find a .ACT based Virus.

Next, if you had such doubts you could've checked the Mainsite of www.msihardware.com and you'd have seen that it's a Hardware/Tech site with News articles...Articles written by guess who? And with what Email address? namuna.msihardware.com

Lastly, thanks for the warm welcome and feel free to KISS MY ASS.

JTK, viruses can only exist in executable code.

An Photoshop ACT file is just simple data. It has no executable capability.

Buffalo Springfield: "Paranoia strkies deep. Into your life it will creep."

JTK, shame on you. Check things out before you make accusations.

Namuna, honest-to-God this is usually a very friendly forum (as Lee well knows). But between this little flap and the "alpha2data" posts, you wouldn't know it. I hope you will feel free to continue to post helpful hints.

I made no accusations, in fact pointed out that it was no personal reflection on him . . . just a sign of the times. Like I said, call me paranoid if you wish.

And, yes it is true I did not know about the specifics of his download, quite possibly would not have comprehended them fully in any event. I merely stated that he was new and unknown HERE on this forum and that "I" was not going to download.

My apologies if it sounded hostile, it was meant only to be cautionary. Any time I click on an exploratory link and it immediately starts/requests a download, I CANCEL out of there ASAP, if I'm looking for a download, I expect - and usually trust - the download I find. If, however, a download "finds" me, I instinctively DIStrust it. Sorry, just the way things are now days.

As for the condom reference, most anti-virus software is about as safe as a condom. About 85-90%, I've got friends who have their PCs on "Full Red Alert" 100% of the time, and they still have become infected. I'd rather be overly cautious, possibly rude and ALIVE, than any alternative. You might say I'm "Thick as a Brick" [Jethro Tull].

And if you check my profile . . . . I DO have a "real" email address, and I welcome any and all correspondence. I couldn't be posting here if it WASN'T "real"!

We know you're real. you've been posting here for some time. It's just that that post was out of character--both for you and for this forum. Kind of sad actually, considering that (except for the A-holes who continue to post slams about Bruce) it is pretty much a happy family. That's all. I just didn't want to see the tone changed--nor to discourage someone new here who was posting some useful info. You meant well, sure. It was just ill-advised and precipitous. Let's just move on to being helpmates again.

Joel
