A open then close command should cancel if stop, stop doesnt work. Open, close commands should be able to go unnoticed if close enough together.

If it's a soft power off (via IR), then powering off during play shouldn't affect the player. The player should be smart enough to finish what it's doing and THEN power off safely (of course that would only be the logical thing to do...)

Seem like power is being cut (switched outlet) otherwise I can't think of a logical reason for auto-play to fail. If it really is caused by the sony off code how about using the discretes for only the sony equipment that is actually in the system? The only problem I am aware of would be the sat-X50( I think) or the tivo/sats that only respond to sys off but really there is no reason these have to be turned off

x50 supports no discretes at all, x55 supports only System Off, I know TiVo units don't support discrete power but I'm not sure about System Off. Some 2nd generation Sony DVDs also don't support discrete power correctly, though most respond to System Off. The cheapest Sony VHS VCR right now also doesn't support discretes.

sat-60 does sys off. With a $400 or $1000 you probably could move the slv-n-50(?) to the bedroom and spring fora $165 slvn-70 right. Those dvd do respond to play, stop

sorry so long to resond.

Here is my all off code:

0000 0067 0000 0010 0060 0019 0030 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0019 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0019 0018 0019 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 034b

it is slightly different, but not enought for the player to see it differently. i haven't seen it to matter whether i'm playing the disc or not when i power down. all i know is when i use the "power" button from the original remote, it autoplays on start up, and when i use the all off commmand, it does not autoplay. I'll try to look and see if anything else might be triggering it and let all know.

okay. after a little more investigation, i have found out more info.

it seems it does not matter how you turn it off, but rather WHEN you turn it off.

if you turn the dvd player off while in the middle of an "autoplay" section of the dvd, i.e. dvd menu, the warnings at the beginning etc, it will autoplay the dvd. however, if you turn it off during a regular plaback section of the dvd, it does not autoplay when you turn it on again. this goes for both standard power and discrete all off.
