If you use the "Sony system off" or "all sony off" command when turning equpment off, the changer will not autoplay the next time you turn it on.
With the standard power off or even the discrete power off command, it will allow the autoplay to work.

This has only been tested on the dvp-cx860. Hopefully others will try with similar models and let us know.

Why not use the switched output from your processor or reciever to plug the power to the dvd power cord.Works for us.

i believe if i were to hook it up the other way, it would void my warranty against any power surge or lightening damage.

Actually I thought most people were looking for a way to defeat AutoPlay!

Daniel: So did I!
kabster: very true, however according to panamax, it must be directly plugged into the panamax unit for coverage under their warranty.

Wade, what ir command are you using for all off? I used the all off ir command found in the discrete codes section, and it didn't result in defeat of the auto play feature when my 860 was turned on again. The code I am using is:
0000 0067 0000 0010 0060 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0349

On my CX860 the power off will not eliminate autoplay if the changer is not in the play or resume play state when the power off is activated. If the changer has been stopped by pressing stop twice the unit will autoplay on next power on.

WCB, exactly what I have found. AND, one should NEVER power down the 860 while it is in play mode...ALWAYS press the stop button, to prevent damage to the transport.
Anyway, still don't know how to defeat the autoplay. Is there or is there not a specific ir all off code, to prevent this, as the original post implies?

drhb do you leave the CX860 in standby or fully off, no red led on. In this mode the changer loses its memory and in my experience will autoplay disc 1 when turned on.

WCB, I do leave it in standby mode (ie, red LED is on). Perhaps Wade is using some ir code for Sony ALL OFF which is different from the one I posted....
