Daniel,

I've seen "[deleted]" in some posts, but when I open one of my (numerous) posts, highlight it and hit the delete key, then click on "Submit" below, I get a pop-up that says something to the effect of "Hey! You didn't write a message!" and it won't let me out until I leave something in the box--usually a period (shades of Nicole).

How does one delete his or her post so as to avoid humiliating oneself?

Just edit the post and put "[deleted]" as your message.

Thanks, Andrea, I needed that! My self-esteem was not quite low enough!

Which one did you want to delete - the one about learning so much on the "trekkie" thread??

Posts really shouldn't be deleted -- it just brings up all sort of questions as to WHY. ;-)

Larry - You are correct. Apparently that was my most obviously lame post.

and Daniel, I'd rather have questions about why the deletion, than questions about my intelligence by leaving it there. (Of course, that seldom happens. My posts are almost uniformly brilliant--not counting this one.)

Andrea: ANN-dreea or ann-DRAY-a? (Peter DeWildt from Australia wanted to know so he could send you a bouquet of flares.)

ANNdrea,

Can you answer a little quicker please? Almost a full minute went by. My attention span is very short.

PS Since you're from Texas, that's what I thought. The other affectation is very L.A.

Hey, how about a keyboard that knows what you are trying to convey and automatically types the correct words and spelling, regardless of what keys you press? Now that would be darn nifty :)

JJP

hehe... I take the first one off the assembly line please!

Well, now you've hit on one of my pet theories about computers: You make a typo and don't type in the exact right thing and the cursor sits there blinking at you, taunting you, as if to say "Nope, try again." My theory is that it knows damn well what you want, but is just enjoying the hell out of pissing you off! Same with keyboards. You can't tell me they don't know!! They do too many things on their own that you never asked for or told them to do not to know!!
