The FAQ has a section on the charger and some notes about the blinking light.

You need to provide more information than just "it does not work".

To go back to the factory set up, download "Default.CCF" into your Pronto. It is in the ProntoEdit install directory.

Typing in all capitals is considered SHOUTING.

If you loaded files with Pronto Edit, download the configuration called "default.ccf". This is the factory default configuration and will put you back to square one--the out-of-box state. After that, I recommend using the basic UDB setup before you try to get too fancy. This way you'll get most of your devices working before you try to get it looking slick, too. Check my post here:

As to the battery issue, are you using the docking station or AA batteries? Is it working even though the battery light is flashing? Double-check the orientation of the batteries to make sure they are loaded correctly and are fully seated.

Peter,

When you are first learning the Pronto, though, it's called "panic" and is considered normal

I had the same problem with the rechargeable battery, had to put in the normal to teach pronto the ir codes!

After many, many coversations with 6 or 7 tech staff in Philips UK they finally admitted a design fault to me!!

The Battery doesn't fit properly.

You MUST ensure that the GOLD contacts are good. I was advised that a great deal of force would solve the problem. It has.

Force the battery in very hard and then wiggle it then push it in some more etc.

Martin...

I don't think it is a matter of force, but of proper fit and alignment.

See the following I posted here that has help many many people out on this issue:

Primer - Avoiding Initial Docking Station Set-up Problems

Additionally there is another thread running in here right now that was on the Pronto Pro, but a similar problem and from what I am reading, it turned out to be the fit of the actual plug from the transformer into the dock itself.

That thread is called: ProntoPro Battery Charging

I can only repeat what I was told by a Phillips Tech support guy for Universal Controllers told me - the battery doesn't fit; there can, therefore, be no proper fit or alignment! You can contact them on +44 (0)20 7744 0344 - pretend to have problems - threaten to send it back as I did - and see what they say.

I'm not suggesting a hammer!

The battery pack does fit, it's just tight. Bruce's primer is very good. Just push hard against the springs and keep the pressure on as you lower the other end into place.

Jeez, this is the 4th post with the same subject.

Come on, Howie. Look at all the easy-to-use and understand documentation on this site. Read it and I think everyone will be willing to help with specific issues.
