Ive been doing some decorating at home and so packed all my home cinema equipment away. When i finally came to use my RC5ooo again (after recharging and resetting it) the screen turns on but none of the functions or screen jumps seem to work. Has anyone had a similar problem with leaving an RC5000 dorment for a while, or any suggestions as to how to overcome this problem

what does it do ? did you look in pronto edit to see if you lost your jumps ? do the buttons work ? do the hard buttons work ?
try flashing the firmware , try those , touch screen may be bad. I had it happen to one customer after I replaced his kid confessed to sitting on it. No biggie we replace them for cracked screens anyway .

So nothing happens at all when you touch it? But backlight and hard buttons do? Screen activates with the backlight button?

Okay ... this may be a stupid question, but could the contrast be off ... the ONLY reason I suggest this is that it happened when a friend of mine 'looked' at my Pronto and the screen 'died' I tried everything but then just happened to check the contrast wheel and guess what it had been turned all of the way down ... just a thought ... kjw

you can get to the calibration screen by modifying the steps to tetris

Calibration screen

Press and hold : Back light and L/R buttons
click :
-- mute
-- CH+
-- mute
-- CH+
-- Vol-
(here is where it changes:
let go BL
let go L/R buttons

You can also try a reset, and letting the battery out over night
