I have had the Pronto for several months but with some health and other personal problems, I am just getting around to programming it.

It took me some time to just get the display to stay on for longer than 10 seconds.

My first question is that my Sony TV has 4 video inputs. I can operate the TV with the Pronto but I am not sure how to add more buttons so I can just click on the video input that I want to use.

Any suggestions?

From your post, it sounds like you may not be aware of the many self-help resources here on this site. So my suggestion is to read the FAQs (several times - all the way through), download the manuals from this site (FAQs too) in .PDF format so they are always accessible to you (you will need Adobe AcroBat to view these offline).

Read Daniel's Review , it is very thorough and helpful.

Use the 'Search This Forum' link for anything you can't find in all of the above.

Ask *Specific* questions here, with as much detail as possible. ie: which remote you have, clear details of what is happening, not happening or what you want to try. What kind of PC you have with OS and peripherals if they pertain to your question. We do like to help, but the more information you can provide us, the easier it is to get you the correct information or to point you in the right direction.

But best advice of all (after reading, a lot) is to simply download CCFs and experiment with them in ProntoEdit Emulator, then dissect them in ProntoEdit. Especially since the TSU2000 Firmware Update is available, there isn't much that you can't recover from.

Good advice, Mike. I would add:

If you've had health problems, you may want to wait until you've fully regained your strength before you start. Don't let your blood pressure medication run out.

And if your personal problems are marital, you may want to make sure there's no hope there, before entering the "Pronto Programming Tunnel"

Now guys, are you trying to frighten me?

A few questions;
I just downloaded the Pronto Edit 2.0 file. The information mentions an emulator. I presume this emulates the Pronto 2000?

I just checked the CCF files for the Motorola Digital Cable box. I see 4 different ones. Will the emulator show me the differences?

No. In theory, you can run the emulator while the Pronto is plugged in and it will send the codes out the Pronto so you can test them before downloading, but in my experience that's not always consistent. If that works for you, good. If not, download each CCF in order into your Pronto, and find out which one works for you.

Which Motorola do you have? That was my bugaboo until I was sent the codes by Alexis Guillen from here. If none of those on the site work for you, I can send you mine and you can checl them out.

And, no, we're not trying to frighten you, just give you the proper mind-set.

The emulator is good to get an idea of the look and feal of the CCF before downloading. Like Joel said if you want a more robust testing you are better off downloading to the Pronto.

Joel,
I don't see a model number. Just some stickers with a G###### and an A########

AT&T is so brilliant that they do provide two boxes but both remotes work on the same setting. I guess the presume people will have them in two different rooms.

Fortunately I also the REplayTV (Panasonic Showstopper) and have two of them and can turn one off while the other is on. I do most of my tuning through the SS remote.

There are times that neither remote will set the Motorola box. It will show the correct channel then revert back or lose some digits. Often I get the music channel display but the sound from the channel I wanted.

I have spent some time looking over the FAQ. Is there a downloadable form I can read offline. PDF? Word document?

Sorry to be such a PITA guys.

My TV is a Sony Wega - KV32FS12 The nearest I found in the file list is the KV27FV15.

How do I use this file to be a spring board for my particular model?

Mogur2:
1) you will find several versions of the FAQ here [Link: remotecentral.com]

2)
- a) Make sure all the work you have done is saved
- b) Open the CCF containing KV27FV15 with ProntoEdit
- c) download the CCF to the Pronto
- d) use the Pronto
