I have a DTC100 Hidef sat and an older RCA DSS sitting right on top of each other. Although I have tried the discrete Power on and Power off for both that are offered on this site, each one will turn both on or off at the same time.
Does anyone have a tried and true discrete Power on and Off for the DTC-100 and the older DSS (DRD515RB) Models?
thanks,

Did you try bot sets of Discrete Codes? If you did, then you could try the following working around to simulate Discrete On and Off:
Discrete On for the DTC100 Would be: - Discrete Power On - DRD515RB Power
Discrete Off for the DTC100 Would be: - Discrete Power Off - DRD515RB Power (You would only need this command, if you want the DRD515RB to stay on)
Discrete On for the DRD515RB Would be: - Discrete Power On - DTC100 Power
Discrete On for the DRD515RB Would be: - Discrete Power Off - DTC100 Power (You would only need this command, if you want theDTC100 to stay on)
This will only work provided that the Power button for each remote doesn’t control both units.

Problem is that the discrete codes affect both systems. The DTC100 Discrete on turns on both and the Discrete off, turns off by and vice versa.
You're barking up the right tree though and I appreciate your input.
any other ideas?

Did you set up one of the receivers in SYSTEM OPTIONS / REMOTE SETUP to respond to the AUX codes?

Make sure you leave the DTC-100 with the original codes, and only change the code address on the 515 to the AUX code set. Otherwise, the other discrete codes available for HD/SD and antenna inputs may not work.

I don't understand about the SYSTEMS OPTIONS/REMOTE SETUP. Can you explain that in a little more detail?

Go into the menu on your 515 receiver and you should have options on what set of IR codes the receiver will respond to. The choices on RCA's are SAT-1 or AUX.
On my receiver, I push MENU, then select OPTIONS, select SYSTEM OPTIONS, select REMOTE SETUP, and change it to AUX. My exact menus are likely different than yours, but if your 515 can be changed to AUX, you should be golden. The whole point of 2 code sets is to run multiple receivers. My original RCA remote has both codes already on it, so it's easy to test which one your set to.
I think John's right - the DTC-100 finally has the special discrete IR's not found on the original remote for the various inputs and SD/HD outputs, but I think they only apply to SAT-1.
If all else fails, read the manual. (Ouch!)
Good luck!

John is exactly right. I have the same setup and that is what I did. Everything works fine.

The older RCA units in the wider box usually have DSS1 and DSS2. I have one slaved to my Tivo set to DSS2 (Tivo controls via serial cable anyway) and set my DD unit to DSS1. To my knowledge the DTC100 doesn't have an alternate code set, just the standard DSS1 codes with the added HD commands. By the way, the (crappy) UltimateTV has that same set only, as well, so you can't have it in the room with a DTC100.

Thanks for the info Steve, I did not know that.
Much appreciated,

Thanks guys, works like a charm. Now if I could just figure out how to make my X10 light button "hit" longer, I'd be done.
Great remote! It's like the glue that has brought my whole entertainment system together.
Can't thank you enough!

By the way is was the DSS1 and DSS2 that fixed it. Funny thing was, the original remote was so old, I had trouble getting the signals out of it for learning. After about an hour of tinkering, Everything is Peachy jt

Sometims with the RF/IR remotes that come with the better RCAs you need to hold them over 18" or so from Rc5000 to learn codes.

I have a similar situation, and am looking for a code to make the center "OK/select" button on the cursor pad work for a RCA DRD515RB receiver when it's set to AUX/DSS2. Everything for that receiver works when it's on AUX excpet the one button that selects a channel... :-) If anyone has a .ccf where you're controlling a DRD515RB as a second receiver, could you send the file to [email protected], or let me know where to find it in the file archive? Thanks!
