I am considering buying the new Sony DVP-NS700 DVD player, but before I buy I want to know if the current Sony remote codes wotk with it, including discrete power ON/OFF. Does anyone know?

The discrete on and off commands do work, sort of. With several of the new Sony's, both commands work but not consistently. However, if the "on" command is inserted in a macro in (3) locations(beginning, middle, and end) it seems to work o.k. Do the same for "off".

They work for me pretty consistently. Make sure the codes are in the "repeat burst" part, not in "one-time" part.

Dmitry, can you recommend a Sony DVD .ccf in the files section which has the on/off codes like you are referring to? If so I will load it in my Pronto and go try it at the dealer before I buy the DVD player.

Sorry to drag up this old thread but I'm after the discreet on/off for the Sony 700P as well. I downloaded the Terry Miller ccf file referenced above but when I pull it up in ProntoProEdit it shows an rc5-0-0 for both on and off. What am I missing?

You sure that's not just the IR code's label? To paste hex codes you need to have an existing learned code to paste into... otherwise one route is to create an RC5 code then paste into that. But, instead of showing as LEARNED, it'd show as an RC5.
Just get the hex code from the file area if you're really concerned. :-)
