Arjan, it can definetly break (especialy the screen), but depending how it lands it can take a fall (but I would not drop it on purpose). You might find this link interesting [Link: remotecentral.com]

Here's the thread on the leather case, which seems to now be available in two versions. One for use without the docking station. And one that will allow you to use the docking station, if you have one.

Looks pretty good to me!

I don't know how SOME people treat their Pronto but I have hade mine for quite a while (drunk gests and all) and it takes a licking but keeps on ticking.

I don't quite understand the hoopla and protecting the remote. I don't have kids... but a house of drunks all playing with the remote etc has never ended in harm.

I would think that you would not only have to drop it (mine has fallen many times) but then step on it hard before any damage would come to it.

I know... anyone who has broken theirs will claim it was sitting on the table and out of nowhere... the screen cracked... the battery back blew off.. etc. But I will never believe the remote was not mistreated.

Just my two cents... Save your money. It does not need a cover or box or whatever...

I've got a leather case for my cell phone, and I got the cell phone for free! It didn't have to pay $300 for it And I'm happy I bought the case.

Steve: You're a lucky man. Drunks, etc. and no breakage. That's great!

No, the case is not for everyone, but I do see it serving a great purpose, just as my cell phone case has protected my 6 year old cell phone, and it looks brand new!

IMHO.

I seriously doubt a leather case will protect the remote from more than mere scratches. Due to its weight, LCD breakage may happen with or without a bit of cow between it and concrete. :-)
