Having searched the Forum: 1) there is no table to map code sets to model numbers, and 2) it's pretty easy to determine the right code set by physical testing.

Any advice in the latter step? Are code sets mutually exclusive (I suspect not). Which signals do you use then, if it works on POWER and CHG CHANNEL can you assume it will work on all 50 (or whatever) total codes in the code set-device typ?

Thanks

It's usually trial and error.

They should usually be mutually exclusive. Most equipment works with a single Device Number and then a Command Number for each command. It would be unusual for the same Command Number to have different meanings on different models with the same Device Number.

So usually the different codes sets have at least a different Device Number, which would mean they are mutually exclusive.
