I don't quite understand how to use the 'component' and 'system' CCF files.

I am currently using the RC that came with my Onkyo THX receiver. I was able to set it up to service all my other A/V components but the methodology to do so seemed ridiculous. You place the Onkyo and Sony (e.g.) RC face to face & continuously push a series of buttons to set up each action for each component I wanted available on the Onkyo universal RC.

Question about the Component files - do these mean I can download the file that matches my component into the Pronto and it is automatically set-up? What does it look like?

Q re the System files - these appear to be complete set-ups from start to finish for specific systems - does this mean that these files are useless to me unless I have the exact audio/visual setup as one of the folks that's posted theirs?

Thanks for helping clarify.

JH:

What is a CCF:
A CCF is the configuration the Pronto uses to tell it what to look like (UI) and what to do (turn TV on)

What is the CCF file section:
Many users have decided to send in their CCF, either because they like their interface, or so that others don't need to do the IR learning (point and click of each button)

System files section:
These are files of complete systems, usually used to look at the interface (what button shape / layout do you like.

Component file section:
This is used to make it easier to find a particular device (Sony TV) it might be part of a complete system (most of them) or of the particular device.

Nothing is useless, if you really like the UI, let's say the Star Trek theme, you can teach your codes to those buttons.

I would recommend that you read Daniel's review (the main review section) and the FAQ.

Note: A CCF is a complete configuration, you do not download separate devices to the Pronto. You merge them together in PE and then download the completed and complete CCF.
