First off if your fan remote is not IR controlled, which most are not. It is RF and current Prontos do not support RF. the Answer is no, you can not control your fan. The remote you have looks more like a garage door opener than a car stereo remote. If you would like to control your fan via IR switch out the wall switch for one that is IR controlled by Lutron. it will cost you around $50.00 its called a spacer. just bull out the old switch cut both black wires off if need be and wire in the new switch. You might want to shut power off to that room if you are not fond of working around live wires. The Home Depot does not sell Spacer's. Check with local Electrical Wholesalers or high end fan stores will be your best bet. Again this will only turn on and off your fan not reverse directions or speed control. Hope this helps

Hey, I've seen some ccfs on this site that operate IR-controlled fans, but I can't locate an IR ceiling fan. Who does make them? I know there are a few.

Thx alot for the info. I went ahead and used a Lutron dimmer just for the light in the fan. I live in an apartment so im not going to worry about switching the speed and such till i get my own house. Again thx for your time and info.
