Should ProntoPro have a separate FORUM here?

With the advent of the ProntoPro we are and will be seeing a lot of posts here that will be irrelevant to the majority who are still using the Pronto and its siblings. I would vote for having a separate forum and files section on RemoteCentral for the ProntoPro.

Any "pro" or con opinions on that? (Would that make a con actually a pro "pro"??)

After Daniel reviews the unit and they become available, I imagine he will probably dedicate another forum to the PRO (space permitting of course).

We all owe him a debt of gratitude for this site and the forums.

Doug and Steve...

I think he would already be in the advance planning stages for that if he was going to implement it since he is in test mode on the new forum already.

I am not sure what is involved, but I would imagine that there would be management considerations for him to separate forums that may not at first be able to be efficiently and/or economically done especially since advertising rates are normally based upon "hits"; although I am still awaiting a call to find out how the hit rate is calculated on this site.

If in the interim those of us posting messages state cleary in some way that it involves the "Pro" or TSU6000 (TSU6k TSU2k) etc., it would help everyone out.

I would think that right now there is universal interest on the part of everyone just from the standpoint of "inquiring minds like to know"!

Absolutely NOT. Keep the one forum.

We'll be using both the 2K and the Pro depending on the situation, but the various incarnations of Pronto/RC's have so much in common I'd prefer a single forum for all models.

I would think one forum is enough.

As Steve said above on 06/25/01 12:59.34:

"We all owe him a debt of gratitude for this site and the forums."

Look at the new BDT Award logo on the left side of this page, under the AVSmarts logo.

That's how you can pay your debt of gratitude!!! Check it out!

One forum OK I suppose, just put "PRO" in the subject line

It would seem to make little sense in opening another forum for a newer version of the Pronto. Should we then open a new forum for RC5000 users only? I think not.

Pronto and RC5000 are the (almost) same. What you read about one almost always applies to the other. But if you have a Pronto and you are reading threads about the Pro you are usually wasting your time, and may even be mislead!

I hope everyone will clearly indicate PRO in the subject so those of us without a Pro can just skip it.

And at this point, there would be no way to assure that Pro users only post in a Pro forum. I think we are doomed to one forum, so I am sorry I brought it up.

But we ALL agree that Daniel desrves a round of applause, 1 forum or not.

From a programming point of view there are almost no differences between the color and monochrome versions.

There are actually more differences between ProntoEdit V2 and V1.05 then there are between V3 and V2.

Sure there will be different hardware issues, but programming is virtually the same.
