OK Ive finally taken the plunge to order a Pronto (1Mb) from Lets Austomate (UK). Im in Australia, and it works out to be $AU370 (that's sort of equivalent to US$190!

I have read the FAQ, tha Pronto Manual, and the ProntoEdit manual few times over. I have read reviews after reviews. I have read this forum thoroughly. I'm still lost!

OK, call me stupid if you must, but I am perfectly computer & technology literate.

Where / how do I start programming my Pronto?? What do you guys do?

Downlod ProntoEdit and install it on your PC. Then download several CCFs, run them on the Pronto Emulator to see what they *look* like . . . and, finally, open those CCFs in Pronto Edit and disect them to see just **HOW** they do what they do. (Actually, you have to "open" them in ProntoEdit in order to run them on the Emulator, but I found it was better to Emulate them first, disect second).

Hands on is the best way to learn these babies! And since you can put your real hands & brain to work on a Virtual Pronto, with a bit of PC time invested now you could possibly have a personalized, working CCF by the time you get your *real* Pronto.

If your only lost and not "totally lost" after reading the FAQ's and post your in pretty good shape. There is a pretty good learning curve but after you get it you wonder why you thought it was so hard to begin with. I found the best way is to just download a few CCF's into your Pronto (or Prontoedit) and study how they work. When something does not make sense look up the answer in the FAQ's or the Prontoedit manual. And of course you have the answer to just about any question you may have right here in this forum. Most questions have been asked over and over again. Do a search with a keyword and chances are you will find the answer. If not then just post the question. Most important.. don't get frustrated....When you get the hang of it you'll have a ball programing it!!

Yup, looking at others work is a good way to start.

I would also add that you should start thinking on how you use youre equipment. It is good to be a ble to visualize what you want before you start (obviously when you finish it will look nothing like that idea, but it helps)

I think The problem is the scope of possibility with these things that makes them overwhelming- not the difficulty of programming. I was overwhelmed, and cofused on what to do with my remote the first couple of days I had it, then by magic it became tedius and menial to program.
