I've customized my RC5000i fairly extensively, using icons and suggestions from remotecentral.com, but I have yet to find an icon or graphic suitable to represent controlling my Auton motorized TV lift. Right now I simply have a button labeled "lift up/down", which looks out of place next to the attractive TV, DVD and VCR buttons.
If anyone has a good suggestion as to an icon I could use to represent the lift, that would be great.
Also, unfortunately, the Auton doesn't have discrete up/down codes. I actually had to get an RF->IR converter, because it only comes with an RF output (and RF remote). Obviously the RC5000i is IR only. If anyone has a solution with discrete up/down codes, even if it's custom built, please let me know!
Thanks.

The lift can be triggered by 12v or contact closure as well. This is actually what the RF remote (garage door opener) does. There are a number of ways to control 12v switching via Ir discretely.

What does the lift look like? and what does it hoist, a TV? I'll have a go at a TV on a scissor type hoist if i get chance.

Why don't you incorporate the lift function into your TV code, this way you can forgo the icon. By creating this macro whenever you turn the TV on the lift goes into operation. Or if the lift takes the TV from an unseen space (like your floor) then you might what to implement the lift function first with a delay that’s long enough that it will send the TV on function when in IR range.
If you don't like the macro idea, I guess you could create your own icon to portray a more accurate looking lift. I've made icons using MS Paint and Adobe Photoshop. Warning: This is Time Consuming. If you decide to go this route I suggest you first consult the FAQ's to avoid confusion
BTW: Having a lift for your television is VERY cool. Just had to compliment you on that.
