Just got myself another VCR, only problem is that it works on the same IR-codes as my old one. Is there a way to set the VCR's to VCR-1 and VCR-2?
btw, the VCR's in question: Philips vr522 & Philips vr637.

I'm pretty sure you can't do this (set one of the units to 'vcr2').

Xantech makes a fancy device to route IR signals to identical devices. It looks pretty cool, but complicated to set up, and probably costly. You'll find it on the xantech.com web site under 'products',
'remote control switchers', 'GATEKEEPER-IR'.

VCRs are so inexpensive these days... I wonder if it would be cheaper to get rid of the oldest vcr and buy a new one of a different brand.

I also have 2 Philips VCR's (VR723 as VCR2 and VR960 as VCR1). The documentation of the VCR's should tell you how to change one of them to VCR2.

For Pronto programming it is important to know that the default VCR1 codes are (RC5 5 yy) and VCR2 listens to RC5 6 xx codes. I have a table in Word format explaining the codes for both my VCR's. Email me if you are interested.
