PE is neither uploading nor downloading, with message saying "Failed to get valid information from Pronto." FAQ suggests reloading software and rebooting. Neither has worked. Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks in advance......

Please supply some more information: What model Pronto do you have? What version of ProntoEdit are you using? Has PE ever worked for you before? Is it a new Pronto with the original configuration?

Check your cable connections, both at the PC and at the Pronto, I have read that some people need to pull the cable OUT of the Pronto a TINY bit in order to make the correct contact.
What other devices/apps do you have competing for COM1 (ie; HotSync, ActiveSync, a mouse - or *anything* that wants to use COM1 could be interfering).
You might ned to get a USB/Serial adapter and hook up through USB. There are many threads on this subject, use the Search This Forum link looking for -- Adapter -- and you should get quite a few responses.
There are as many solutions to this problem as there are people with this problem. What I mean is *your* solution may be unique to you, your Pronto and Your PC Configuration. It might take a bit of work and sleuthing on your part, but I think most people eventually find a soultion.
Mine was a KeySpan High Speed USB-Serial Adapter (USA-19W) installed on WIN98SE using only the Defaut Installaton to COM4, others have tried this to no avail.
Don't despair or give up, there is a solution out there for you somewhere.

Bob, the message you ge indicates that communications is working, but yout Pronto has invalid data.
I'd try redownloading the firmware. If you have a 2000 you must do this using the special program supplied by Philips and available on this site. Do not use ProntoEdit or you will get error messages possibly like the one you are seeing.

I get the same message (TS1000). Have tried reloading the firmware but get the same error, and are then asked to reset the Pronto, this also fails and brings back the CCF as I left it????

MY problem is that the PE says "Connecting to Pronto", but goes no further--no progress bar movement, no nothing. I'm using a USB to serial adapter, which the control panel says is correctly installed on Com 3. Any suggestions? I'm now going to start a new thread with this message, so reply here or there. Thanks.
