Here is a little constructive criticism about this otherwise fantastic site:
Am I the only one who is frustrated by vague or too-broad "SUBJECT LINES" here? With so many threads to wade through, it would be helpful if the SUBJECT indicated better what the thread is about so those who cannot contribute or benefit won't waste time clicking on it, or even more importantly so that those who CAN help WILL click on it. The vast majority of the SUBJECT LINES on the threads here are really well thought out, but there continue to be a few that waste a lot of time. For example, if I look at some recent posts I see these subjects...
TSU2000 (actually about "Actions disappear on copied buttons when source is deleted") UGGGG (actually about "Prontoedit functionality in general not working") IS IT POSSIBLE.. (actually about "Can I get an alert when command stream finishes?") THIS DAY WILL LIVE IN INFAMY... (actually about "Pronto has broken screen") LITTLE HELP HERE (actually about "how to get started in Prontoedit") NEWBIE NEEDS HELP... (actually about " ccf file transfer problem with TS1000") MARANTZ RC2000 QUESTION (actually about "how do I assign global volume control over most devices" or "single device volume control for other devices") NEED HELP... (actually about a "learning" problem with a Pioneer receiver) I FEEL VIOLATED... (actually about RC5000edit vs ProntoEdit) etc. etc. etc.
I certainly do not mean to offend anyone, and I hope the authors of these examples will forgive me for singling them out. I know that the subject of SUBJECTS is highly "subjective," (yes, I actually said that) and NOT everyone will agree with everyone else. But I would like to encourage just a little more thought on the matter. And I am doing so as much to help the POSTER as well as the POSTEE (?). Here's why: I for one tend to ignore posts with vague subject matter, and I am sure many of you do, too. So if you want some real help, keep the SUBJECT LINE pertinent so you can snag the attention of someone who can actually help. Otherwise, they might just scroll on by.
Actually, it would be nice if a "moderator" assigned the subject instead of the writer sometimes. ...or could at least CHANGE the subject to something more specific after it has been posted in order to get better response.
Thanks for listening. ...sorry for "SUBJECTING" you to my rambling. Doug

This would also help in SEARCHING.
I agree with you 101%, however . . . call me cynical if you will - but don't expect any great changes in what people post. Look at **ANY** Forum, anywhere, people post as they want, some hoping to get "extra" attention with "snappy" subject lines, others because they either don't think first or don't even consider it.
I tend to click on *EVERYTHING*, do a quick scan and move on if necessary. The one thing I will skip are threads with more than 10 posts (or multiple pages) as they sometimes tend to have devolved into giggle-fests, or at the very least I already know whether or not I want to keep track of it.
Like I said - Good Idea, just don't expect much in the way of change. Chalk it up to Human Nature.
MIKE
ps; One thing I would **REALLY** like to see is this site becoming "PDA Friendly". Scrolling back & forth is a PAIN, as is Highlighting Thread > Copying > OPEN Word > PASTE > read > "clear" Word for next Thread > OPEN PIE > Hit Back Button > OPEN New Thread > etc, etc, etc . . . .

I have to agree with you Doug.
This is a common problem on most message boards. Subjects like "You won't believe this" or "Help" do little for the poster since most people skip over the subject. This kills any chance of getting help from the people that "he" needs to read the post.
I try and be as specfic as possible when posting although some times I get a little of topic.
