I'm not sure why Phillips decided to make such defined distinctions between the Marantz RC5000i and the Pronto TSU2000 remotes. I have read and am pretty familiar with the "differences" and the similarities of these two remotes, but I fail to see one question asked or answered:

Can you remove all those RC codes from the Pronto to free up memory?

I would like to remove all but maybe one/two brands of codes and use the memory for either graphic or libraries etc... This is why I'm leaning towards the Marantz, not to mention the 3 year warranty. But i like some of the features of the Pronto (timers, jump) that I can't get on the Rc5000i.

Can you back up the CCF for all the codes from the Pronto, delete it and free up the memory?

I think we all find it anoying, the worst part is that it is not an engeneering problem but a political one. As far as I know you cannot delete the DB. But the amount of memory is big on the TSU2000, I have TS1000 and it is about 80% free. On the old Prontos the only people who evere used the whole 380k had 300 cd players and they had all their CDs on them.

What is the Jump feature that is not available on the Marantz? I thought the Marantz has more ways to use the Jump features, not less...

Would appreciate any clarification on this...

Or is it because the jump command is now added to the main action window instead of having its own?

Here's the lowdown:

RC5000i...........................TSU2000

more usable mem...............less user mem
..NA..........................code data base
..NA................................timer
..NA.............................custom beep
jump in macros........................NA
panel memory..........................NA
custom scroll arrows..................NA
disable device in macros..............NA
configurable L/R button in macro......NA
more fuctional software.............software
3 yr warranty...................1 yr warranty
charger and batt inc...............OPTIONAL
$549 MSRP............................$399 MSRP

from what I see, the MAranz is the better all round, but it depends on what features you need and want.

(maybe the next one out will have ALL features combined)

I think the 3 year warranty is for the US I think it is 2 years in Europe and I heard on here (but I am not certain of this) that it is 1 year here in Canada.

The other thing is that most of the differences are firmware, and the RC5000 features were added at version 2 of the software, until then the Pronto had more features (timers and beeps)
