A friend suggested I put a clear, replacable protective film over the LCD screen of my Pronto. I guess they make 'em for Palms & the like.

Is this a good idea? Are there any out there that fit the Pronto screen as is, or do you have to trim them?

It sure sounds like a good idea.....

I've never put one on my Palm Pilot and I'm constantly using it. My wife has them on her Palm. They get marked up real easy. Mind you we’re always dragging the plastic pen around on it. It doesn’t seem to bother her but I can hardly see her screen after a while.

The screens on the Prontos are pretty durable. I don't think you need the protective screens so long as you're only using your finger on the screen.

Dean,

I am using one of the Palm screen protectors on mine. I don't know if it's doing any good but it's a nice security blanket. My only problem is I didn't get all the air bubbles out of it when I put it on. Makes it a little hard to read the screen but not too bad. I bought "Write Right protectors for the Palm IIIc Color Palm Pilot". I believe they are made by Fellows.

Check the earlier thread here for more opinions/info.

I tend to agree with Frank. With the Pronto you do very little (if any) dragging across the screen. And most poking at it is done with a finger or fingernail. Unless you have unusually gritty fingers or nails, or some kind of funky, metal "fake" nails, I don't see the need for any protector.

I've got a HP548 with no protector on it with no discernible scratches and I use it extensively.
