Check your Display Settings. I'm not sure if it's the same in ME as 98SE, but in 98SE you LEFT CLICK on the Desktop and select the SETTINGS tab on the DISPLAY PROPERTIES Dialog Box that pops up.

Guessing your old 98SE display was setup at a lower resolution. Mike's right, except you right click to bring up properties/settings to check or adjust the Screen Area.
My new ME laptop is 1400x1050 pixels... I can have 12 -16 panels open at once, but then again everything is smaller than my old XGA 1024x768 display. Took about a week to get used to. Glad I didn't get the UXGA 1600x1400 screen - my eyes aren't *that* good.

You're 100% RIGHT Barry . . . or, wait . . .maybe your LEFT, or would that make it *MY* RIGHT??!!!!
AW H*LL!!!! You're CORRECT!!!
I tried to write (wleft?) a tutorial once that had everyone so screwed up (including ME) that I completely swore off trying to describe my left from my right to anyone else, including my infant son. I just drew extra large big toes inside his shoes so he would know which one to put on which foot.
I guess I should continue to follow this self administered advice.
So, YES! pronto guy . . .Barry is . . . the one to listen to, he is correct, he is . . . dare I say it?
BARRY IS RIGHT ! ! ! ! !

Mike- Aside from the whole left/right confusion thing, your advice was like, totally, "phantasmogorical". (If this word confuses you like it did me, go to [Link: remotecentral.com] for a definition.)

Yup. The zoom levels are based on pixels, not a percentage of your screen -- at 100%, 1 pixel on the Pronto is shown as 1 pixel on your PC (no matter how small that is), at 200% 1 pixel is 2x2 pixels, then 3x3 and finally 4x4.
