Philips didn't mount the LDR component, that allows an automatic backlighting according to surrounding brightness, in RU 890. I added it : it 's recognized by the software (in setup pg 2, the light sensor really works), but the problem is that the firmware is provided to work without the LDR ; so the light sensor scale is locked to the middle of the range to allow the manual setting (in setup mode). Does someone already tempted the adventure and have a solution to recover a full range setting possibility ?? Thanks in advance.

Can you explain how you added the LDR? Is there a specific type you used? I'm thinking of doing this too.
Thanks, Rudi

Sounds like a top idea. Could you let us know what LDR you used and where you sourced it. I havn't opened my Pronto yet but I assume where to solder the LDR onto the PCB is obvious. What size hole did you drill through the case and how have you attached your LDR to the case?
Thanks
Johnny

This depends on your board. There are three circuit board designs for the Pronto:
1) The original with light sensor. 2) The original without light sensor mounted. 3) A redesigned board with no place to mount a light sensor.
All 2mb remotes use board #3, other models use all three depending on when they were built.
