If I could get ProntoPros for around $750 (in bulk:20+), how many of you would be interested in buying one at cost. If demand is high enough, maybe even less. Not so much a sale, but rather a measure of demand. MSRP is $999.

Unless you are a "gotta have it yesterday before it is even generally available" type of person, I would say that if the list is $999.00 one would be better off waiting until the channel fills because the average street pricing should be below your bulk purchase pricing and there will be more choices for the buyer as to where they want to buy and at what price in relation to service and support offered.

Well, put it this way.

Current Pronto list price: $399.
Current street price: $250-290.
Average discount: 27-37%

So, if the TSU6000 is $999, it's possible prices could reach as low as $629 to $729 once supply has evened out. At minimum I'm sure $750-$800 will be easily possible.

Daniel...

Well put, but you just can't figure what the people who really want to have it first will pay.

The interesting, thing is the lack of interest at the $750.00 pricing. That is very telltale advance intelligence... especially to a guy in my position.

Well, I'm one of the people waiting for the Pronto Pro. My orginal Pronto got destroyed and instead of getting a replacement, I decided to wait for this new one. I want color :) I figure I'm saving 200+ dollars by waiting rather than buy the RC2000 now and Pronto Pro when it comes out. (If it ever does, I'm not hearing much news about it, June is coming up pretty quick!)

Hi Gene...

You are, however, discounting the re-sale value of the TSU2000 and the value of have the use of it while you are waiting. I see them selling used on eBay every now and then at over $200.00 and under $250.00.

That means if you picked one up at even $250.00 new and sold it at $200.00 it has only cost you in the neighborhood of $50.00 for 3+ months use (or more if the Pro is late... but that could never happen, right [Smile]).

I agree with all of the above, but I fall into the "gotta to have it now" category. I bet it will be 6 months before price discounting starts AND supply is readily available. $750 was just a quick quote on a bulk quantity of 20, could be a bit less, definately less with more quantity. While price is important, it is not critical for me. I think the product likely has the value Philips expected. I had just hoped to gather a few other "gotta have it now"s and bulk them up into a one time purchase through a wholesale channel I can pull together, thus saving myself, and others, a bit of green on something I gotta have now. ;)

I'm a gotta have it now guy too, so I'd be interested. My suspicion is even the ultimate street price won't be that much lower, and I'd rather pay $50-100 extra and get it sooner.

Keep me posted.

Hi Gene..

On the 6 months to discounting/easy supply, I am not sure how accurate that is.

The TSU2000 only took about 6 weeks to reach that parity point. I realize that manufacturing was more set in place due to only having to make revisions to the existing 1k/890 line, and not having seen a "Pro" yet, I am not sure if it will have the same footprint, but I still cannot see it taking as long as you feel.

I have started to make inquiries myself. So, before anyone plucks down a substantial sum, I would say to give it a couple more weeks. I have always done more than right, I think/hope, by the many many members of this forum who have dealt with me both as a matter of business ethics and my volume buying power.

The fact that this item will be hot at first would make no difference. I have never taken advantage of anyone in any of my other current businesses and I've been in business over 20 years.

Just as an update...Shippping date is tentatively set as mid June from Philips. Philips has pushed this date twice already, but claim they are committed to shipping before the end of Q2.

Due to tremendous response...price should easily be at or below $700. This will be reflected to all who have expressed interest. I will be closing this group and making final arrangements in about a week and a half. Thanx to all!
