OK. I spent $250 on a remote. And this is the only little bugger that doesn't have a discreet power on and off. That is all I ASK! Does anyone know how to jerry-rig this device. I have a Yamaha 995 I was thinking of plugging this thing into the back of it, then finding a way to force the thing on everytime the power came on. Is that possible? Otherwise a simple "is the dss reciever on?" macro would be another way but a LOT more klunky!

Just do what most of us do.... leave it on all the time :-( I do have a separate power toggle button on my DSS page that I use just in case the receiver is off. I gave up on the idea off trying to "power on" my DSS when I select it - that works great for every other piece of equipment, but not the DSS.

If you are talking about the Sony SAT-A55, it DOES have discrete ON and OFF codes. They can be found in the Discrete Codes section for Sony under DSS Receivers. They are working for my Sony SAT-A55. I am having a problem with setting timers to record shows, though. See [Link: remotecentral.com]

I have a Rotel with the same problem. So I pluged it into an x-10 appliance module. created an alis to the x10 keypad and when the system goes on so does the rotel.
