NEW PPRONTO WITH SCREEN PROBLEMS?

I just bought a new pronto 2000 and I think I am having problems. My neighbor also has a pronto 2000 and his screen is definitely blue. My remote's screen is greenish, not blue. Side by side they have identical silver cases except my screen isn't even similar. The other difference is that his screen is **MUCH** more sensitive than mine. Is mine broken? I heard the old pronto 1000 had a greenish screen. Could I have an old screen in a new case? Has anyone else heard of this?

Skip, I just received my Pronto two weeks ago, and my screen is also of a greenish hue. Does make it a bit difficult to see. Don't have any advice to offer, just wanted to let you know that you weren't alone. Perhaps Philips buys LCD screens from different manufacturers (just a supposition, not based on knowledge). Perhaps LEB might read this thread and offer an explanation, as he seems to have quite a bit of insight into the hardware. Was wondering if running the calibration has any effect on the sensitivity..... Rob.

Steve...

Just a question. I know you stated that both Prontos were silver in color, but are they both the TSU2000?

The "Euro" Prontos are also Silver, the model numbers start with SBC as opposed to TS. I believe, and I am going to check this out Monday, that the LCD amkeup of the "Euro" unit is different, but that there is an issue of governmental regulations as to what can be used in which markets. Again, this is off the top of my head from memory, so I am sorry to be a little vague right now.

Steve,

OOPs... sorry. I was too hasty on the "post button" I just saw that you did identify both model numbers. So, I have two other questions.

Do you see any difference when you first put in new batteries?

Is your neighbor also using batteries, or an NiMh pack?

We're both using the recharger. I had used his a number of times, so was pretty familiar with it. When mine was charged, I could tell immediately that it was much different.

I have since called Philips who assured me that the units must be identical. It's painfully obvious that his responds to a much lighter touch than mine, and his is blue. I think my screen must be similar to the old pronto 1000's. It doesn't react to just a touch. I need to actually press or tap it much harder than my neighbor's. I went to an audio store in town to compare, and theirs is the same as my neighbor's. I'm disappointed and will probably return it.

Please email me privately. I believe I can get this resolved for you even if you didn't buy it from me. (If you did, sorry, I didn't look first).

I just got another customer with a cracked screen problem a replacement from Philips.

It was a gray area issue where even my supplier said they would inquire but added "sure the screen cracked just after they dropped it." I felt that was a little facetious, but since the customer was saying it cracked just by touching it, and I chose to believe the customer, I decided to put them in touch with the proper people at Philips who took care of it.

I will not post my contact number publically. Not just because it took me days to get it, but it is reserved for the use of my customers with odd or other "gray area" types of problems where I would not be in a position to assure an advance replacement because it is not a clearly defined hardware problem.

With help like that from alpha2data, why would anyone doubt his character? He's clearly gone way above & beyond. Makes me even more reassured to know that I bought my TSU2000 from him! Way to go, Bruce... Rob.
