How do I copy buttons, panels, etc. from one ccf file to another with the RC5000? I followed what the FAQs said for the pronto, but when I open a file and copy something to the clipboard it is cleared when I open a new file and replace the old one. Can this not be done with RC5000 setup for some reason?

RC5000Setup behaves exactly like ProntoEdit in this regard. However, it is confusing.
You cannot close RC5000Setup after copying to the clipboard. You must:
1) Open the file with stuff you want to copy. 2) Copy your button, frame, panel, device or macro group to the clipboard. 3) Open your new file from the file menu WITHOUT closing RC5000Setup. When prompted, choose Replace. 4) Before pasting, select the appropriate panel, device, macro, or home location, so that RC5000Setup will paste in the correct location.
Hope this helps. If you are still having trouble, you might want to give me a call when you are in front of your pc.

This is what I've been doing. When I copy (Ctrl+C) to the clipboard, the clipboard icon becomes active on the toolbar. Then I open a new file, replace that file, and as soon as I hit "replace", you can actually see the clipboard icon become inactive. There's nothing on the clipboard. This makes no sense. I'm very computer literate and understand how the clipboard works, so I'm a little lost.

The clipboard icon on the toolbar will become active when you SELECT a suitable destination to paste to in your new file.
For example, if you copy a button, the clipboard will only become active if you SELECT a panel (just click on the panel to select it); since a panel is the only possible place to paste a button (and RC5000Setup doesn't understand which panel you want the button pasted to until you select it).
If you copy a panel, then in tree view you must select home, a device or a macro group so that RC5000setup will know WHERE to paste your panel.
If you copy a device or macro group, then in tree view you must select Devices or Macros.
