Can someone explain to me how x-10 devices are installed and how they work? For example. My fan. It has a switch at the wall. What next?

Thanks!

You may want to repost this in the x10 chat forum. But for a answer to your question you can get everything you need at http://www.homeautomationnet.com At the minimum you need a wall switch(XPD3)and a mini controller(PHC01) If you want to control by remote check out the HK10A. It has a transceiver, lamp module and a remote. You will still need to buy the wall switch though. Also check out the active home kit at http://www.x10.com It's more or less the same as the HK10A but also contains computer interface software to operate x10 modules and switches via computer.

Forgot to mention. Since you posted this in the Pronto forum I guess you want to control via the Pronto. If so you MUST have a IR543 to transmit the x10 codes to your houses wiring. If you use the IR542 you do not need the mini controller but could still use it if you wanted to operate fan from the mini controller.
