Ouch! I just received my TSU2000 and docking station and it cost more than I see here. Then again, I sometimes think those low prices are repaired units, seconds, not all "stuff" in the box. Then again, maybe not.

KittyKatMan...

As evidenced by some other messages in a different thread that I cannot recall at this moment, a user in this forum cited the fact that he was told by Philips that there are currently (at that time) no (zero, zilch, nada, none) refurbished (in essence repaired) units available to advance replace his defective Pronto.

I can also assure you after selling over approx 300 of the Prontos on eBay, currently in a _Dutch Auction_ (that's a multi-unit listing that costs a seller far less per unit both for the initial listing and the final value fees that eBay takes) at prices of $239.99 for the TSU2000 and $299.99 for the TUS2000 with DS1000 included, that they are anything but repaired or refurbed.

I would venture to guess that over 100 people in this forum alone have bought one from me over the past three months and as indicated by my feedback rating, are totally satisfied AND convinced that they are neither refurb nor repair.

There was one anonymous posting here by an "Unhappy" with a totally fabricated tale that scared people off for a time that indicated I was selling refurbs and Philips wanted to shut me down. Again, that was a TOTALLY FABRICATED AND ANONYMOUS posting.

It was so absured to anyone with average intelligence that it just did not pass the giggle test, and yet it did, as I stated, affect sales and cause some people to email as to the veracity of it and to confirm otherwise.

THE BEST PRONTO DEALS RUNNING RIGHT NOW ANYWHERE (PROBABLY)

I realize that gp ([email protected]) keeps echoing J&R and I have nothing against them, but for $265.00 vs my current Dutch Auction running this weekend at $239.99, I don't see what they bring to the table unless you are unsure and want to be able to have a "satisfaction guarantee" so that you can return it if you don't like it.

That is why retail dealers exist. To provide value added at, albeit, higher prices that they are entitled to.

However, for most of the people in this forum who I believe are informed consumers that have done their research in advance and don't need the extra handholding (though we provide it with respect to our target of improving the initial out-of-box experience), then an eBay seller like myself is a more cost effective way to go.

I hope this did not come off as an attack. It was certainly not intended as such. I am only seeking to inform and enlighted from a different perspective.

VAT does = value added tax, it was implemented on all non-essential items, everything from chocolate to cars. Last time I was in the UK (1996) it was running at 17%, I think it's around 19 or 20% now.
Hope thats of any interest to somebody.

I just brought a RU940 (w/o Dock) from Richer Sounds (in the UK) for £145 off their web site (around $US210). If anyone in the UK is interested.

Matt
