Steve: I definitely do not agree with posting adds on this forum (you must have seen some of my posts on other threads), but I also don't think any of us have the right to tell any one else to stay off of it (except Daniel), don't forget, even though we mite feal it belongs to us, we are all guests.

P.S. How sure are you that Fred is alpha2data? If he is not and this is his first time, imagine the impression he has of the forum users.

It is alpha2data. That's the bottom line and it's getting very annoying. Whenever someone talks about a 'price war' on ebay the writing style is EXACTLY the same. It's an insult to me and everyone else in this forum.

John, take a deep breath and relaaaaxxxxx......

Is it it tacky to place an "informal" ad in the forum? Sure it is. Is it against the rules - probably - as it yet to be clarified whether ebay sales count as commercial advertisements, but chill out.

Your overreaction to the thread is completely unjustified - instead of whining JUST IGNORE IT. And speaking of whining - how posting an ad that may or MAY NOT be from alpha2data is an insult to you I'm not quite sure? As S. Connery so elequently put it - "... personally I think your a f*****g idiot"

You raised my curiosity and I just went to letsbuyit.com and I chose the UK link since you stated a price in pounds. I did a search a few different ways and I can up with:

"Sorry, but your product search was not successful. Please check the spelling or make your search less specific. If the product is still not found, it is probably not included in our current range of co-buys. However, you can let us know you would like it to be made available on LetsBuyIt.com by clicking Suggest a Product."

I also noted that you it appears you have to be a member of "LBI". Do you know what the fee is?

Do you also know if the unit they are selling is from Royal Philips or a "reverse import" from North American Philips... or what the model is/was??

Last, excatly how many US$ = a pound sterling???

Thankx!

Thankx, Mike... you're better (and faster) then the eBay calculator I just went to try and find.

I wonder why dvddarren called that (US$284) a "bargain"??

I regularly sell them on eBay for $269.00 with same day shipping and next day overnight delivery included for the standard UPS ground s/h/i.

It just might **BE** a bargain in the UK:

At LetsAutomate.com

An SBC RU940 (w/o Dock) is 243.00 pounds (189.79 +VAT [Value Added Tax?]) that = $347.35

And an RC5000i (with dock) is 284 pounds (241.70 + VAT) that = $405.96

If that's what VAT is, no wonder we had a Boston Tea Party! OUCH!!!!!
