Does anyone have the discrete Format codes for the HD400 DSS box? This is the "Action 8" function on the Mitsu remote.

Thanks!

I have this receiver as well.
Try the Hughes Platinum codes. That should work, as it is the same box. BTW: how do you like the Mits box? My picture on the Wega appears offset, and the Non-HDTV is horrible. Over the air HDTV is awesome.

The only Platinum ccf comes back with a "file is not a valid Pronto config" message. I sent a message to the owner.

I also looked at the Toshiba DST3000 file listed but they didn't include a Format function.

I'm liking the Mitsu alot. Being that I lived with analog cable for the last year and a half on a Mitsu 55805 16:9 I had no where to go but up. HD HBO and my local OTA HDTV are both outstanding. SD DirecTV is acceptable. I've had no offset issues. Actually no issues except for a SD/HD switching problem that I've been able to fix with my Pronto.

I just downloaded that Hughes CCF, It works fine here. Do you have 1.05 version Pronot Edit?

My Mits did not include a manual. What is the purpose of that SD/HD button on the remote, and what exactly does it do?

Running 1.05 and trying to use the Platinum file by Frank. It's the last one listed. I don't believe the first Platinum file is the HD model.

HD/SD allows you to switch between a HD signal (1080i) or a SD signal (480i). If you want to tape something off of direct TV, you must put the HD400 in SD mode. You can't tape HD yet unless you've got a HD PC setup.

Go to the www.DirecTV.com website. You can download the Mitsu manual there for n/c. It's a .pdf file.

Cheers,

It might be a RC5000 file (I don't have type-of-remote information for older files).

It is a 5000i file. Frank sent me an email stating so. I guess I'm a victim of planned obsolescence since I'm using a 1000.

Simple solution: download and install RC5000 Setup, open the file, Save-As "old format". Both can reside on your system, but if you keep both I recommend installing ProntoEdit again after you install RC5000 Setup (so when you double-click on a .CCF it opens ProntoEdit rather than RC5000 Setup).

I contacted Mitsubishi and I received the usual unhelpful response from them..."Sorry, no discrete codes".

It seems incredible to me that a piece of equipment that will so obviously be used in a Home Theater environment would not have discrete codes. I have other issues with the unit also (randomly scrolling menus, etc) but this is not the right forum for that!!

I cannot get many of the codes learned by the pronto (either direct or through ProntoEdit to work. When I look at the code in ProntoEdit, I notice that it is different each time I learn it. Has anyone else had similar issues?

Different how? A slight rearrangement of numbers? Basically just noise. The function of the code should remain the same. If you get different lengths, then that's why we don't recommend learning while in ProntoEdit. :-)

There is one particular code - "input" on the Mitsubishi HD400 remote that the Pronto seems not to learn, whether I am using Prontoedit or just plain direct learning. sometimes it comes up with a code that start with 8000 and is only 5 sectors long, sometimes it comes up with longer strings. None of them work. My plan was to wait for someone to figure it out, post a file and then I could steal it!!!!

By the way maybe the SR-HD500 HDTV Sat Receiver should be added to your toads. No discrete codes (at least according to Mitsubishi!!) and you wouldn't believe how many menues you have to go through to produce the simplest of commands, for example to switch from HD output for the HDTV in the family room to SD out put for the TV in the bedroom and have a non distorted picture requires:

Press "Action" Press "Input"....Changes from HD to SD
Press "Action" Press "Guide"....Gets you into the menu
Scroll to "A/V Set Up"
Press "Select"
Scroll to "Image Shape"
Press Select to Scroll through the choices
Press "Exit" to leave Menu

As you can see it would be difficult to write a macro to do this, especially since when you enter the menu system you do so where you last left it not at the beginning!!!

Hmm, "8000" codes are codes the Pronto think are... weird. Have you tried some of the Tips & Tricks in the Features section of this site? The duck blind method may help.

Mike,

If the problem you are having with the INPUT button is switching from SD mode to HD mode I think I can help.
Using the ACTION and INPUT keys does not work as expected since the remote toggles the code sent by the INPUT key every time the ACTION key is pressed. Try using these discrete codes and see if they work.

SD Mode (480i)

Your codes work!!! Thanks a bunch

So Mitsubishi lied when they said there were no discrete codes, maybe I should pursue this with them a little further. I have a feeling that all the HD DSS receivers based around the Hughes protocol (chip set) have the same command structure (Mitsubishi, Toshiba, Hughes, ???) and so if we manage to get a set of discretes for one they would apply to all.

Thanks again Bob.

Mike,

I'm glad the codes worked for you.

I know for a fact that the HD400 and DST3000 use the same codes. I am using these SD and HD codes with my DST3000 and I have checked some of the codes from the HD400 files and they match exactly the codes from my DST3000. Now if we could just find discrete power ON/OFF codes I would be a happy camper.
